Just a quick picture of Ol' Pickles, who is almost a good dog. She's a Bluetick Coonhound/Black Lab mix, with a personality (and most of her markings) leaning toward the Bluetick. This dog can go from a deep sleep to full out barking in about 1.5 seconds. It's amazing. She's friendly, but a very good watch dog.
I need to amend a statement in the paragraph above. As coincidence would have it, she has just proved that she can go from deep sleep to full out barking pretty much instantly. Some sort of ani-mule must be prowling our night time yard.

We're not used to having a barking dog so our Timber Wolf is a big change for us. He too can go from sleeping to bark in 0.5 seconds. It's incredible. But it has come in handy ... at least it sounds like we have a vicious dog now. Before it was super quiet even when someone knocked on the door. Three dogs and no noise. Timber makes four and a good watch dog. :)
Our dog can also go from sleeping to barking pretty quickly (not as quick as Pickles, however). I feel very safe from raccoons.

Casto: Anybody who approaches our house thinks they might have dog teeth sunk in their arm. Which is fine with me. But in reality, she'd lick them to death before she bit them.
Jennifer: We're pretty safe from squirrels. I don't know what switch dogs have that make them instantly alert, but Pickles has it good.
I know and love Pickles. My precious pug, Ena, loves Pickles too. They are licky, licky, sniffy, sniffy friends. I have watched Pickles walk her 'Daddy' by my house often. She has taught him how to walk like a gentleman and how to keep his composure when confronted with a huge dump truck. She holds her head high and is always alert to any threat to her Daddy. She is well-read and regal.
