My picture of the Cone Mansion, in the moutains above Blowing Rock, North Carolina

This is the Cone Mansion, in the mountains high above Blowing Rock, NC.  What a beautiful place to visit on a hot summer day - easily 15 degrees cooler than Valdese.  For some reason this view of the mansion suited me, fire hydrant an all.

It apparently was "Bring your horse to the mansion" day.  There was a group of 40 or so horses and riders preparing to go riding on the mansion grounds.   I belive the grounds has 25 miles or so of paths and tracks to ride & hike.

My family and I just spent a wonderful summer vacation in the High Country and for the first time visited the Moses Cone House. The view from the front porch is also splendid. We walked the trail next to the house and saw the old carriages in the carriage house. I also took many pictures of the house and the surrounding areas, and must say that your photo truly captures the timeless beauty of this place.

Blowing Rock is a lovely town...great shops, restaurants, scenery and the people are friendly and kind to each other...very refreshing for me.

Fearless: It's a beautiful place. Blowing Rock is pretty high up & the mansion is higher still. It felt so pleasant just walking around.

Dori: It sure is! And there are great views from the grounds.

jakill: It can get kind of crowded on a summer weekend, but it's worth it.

linlah: Do it!! You won't regret it. & afterwards you can head down to Blowing Rock. Its a great way to spend a day.
